Is A .177 Or .22 Pellet Gun More Powerful?

It would seem as though the larger caliber pellet gun is more powerful than the smaller one. But this is not always the case and actually depends on how much energy is released upon firing the gun.

A .22 caliber pellet gun can actually be less powerful than a .177 caliber if it releases less air pressure when the trigger is pulled. Make sure to check with the FPS listed on the advertisement or manufacturer’s packaging to be sure before purchasing.

However, a larger caliber pellet gun with a large amount of air pressure will usually be more powerful than smaller ones.
